Elite Napa Valley Cab

Description

Nowhere in America does Cabernet Sauvignon better than Napa, California, and the region's Oakville area yields some of the best, most coveted examples of all-like Screaming Eagle (which retails for about $3,700 a bottle), Harlan (available for around $1,500) and Dalla Valle (sold at plus or minus $550). Its fruit also goes into this bottle via one of the locale's top winemakers; we just can't tell you who. In order to sell the wine at a more approachable price than the aforementioned selections, we had to sign a non-disclosure agreement (or an NDA, for short), which prohibits us from revealing certain details about its production. So here's what we can say about the bottling.Made with grapes grown in sandy loam soils, it hails from the 2023 vintage, heralded widely as one of the best of the last few decades. Or, as wine writer Karen MacNeil described, '2023 was as perfect as any Napa vintage in living memory.' Fermented in stainless steel and then aged 18 in French oak, it's deep purple in the glass, with dark fruit and spice aromas that lead into a palate of blackberry, plum and subtle mocha tones. Though certainly ripe and powerful, it maintains remarkable energy and finesse, earning the wine 94 points and a platinum medal. Tasting Notes: This is a full-bodied red wine with aromas of black currant, toasted oak and spice. The palate offers similar flavors layered with tones of ripe blackberry, plum and subtle mocha notes. Food Pairings: Beef, lamb, game, burgers, meaty pasta, aged cheeses If this vintage sells out, we will always substitute it with a wine of equal or greater value.
