District tartans, the authors argue, have at least as long a pedigree as clan tartans, but little attention has been paid to them over the last two centuries while interest has focused on clan tartans.

Here we have a collection of over fifty district tartans from Scotland and a similar number from abroad.

Color photos and sett charts are included.

Also in the book ...about 21 States in the USA have tartans, some registered and some not. California has one and it also is registered out of Scotland.
