Felton Road MacMuir Pinot Noir 2024

Dark fruit and cocoa lead this saturating and brooding bouquet. The palate is similarly intense, a different iteration of Felton Road, but it nevertheless has the openness and immediate silky appeal. Sandalwood, dark chocolate and cranberry lingers on a sustained and immensely impressive finish. Certainly no stage fright in this new performer! This is really beautiful, with ripe strawberries, peaches, slate, smoke and a hint of graphite on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with fine, creamy, velvety tannins and a long, lightly chewy finish with some crunchiness. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap. The 2024 MacMuir Pinot Noir is inky and dark, with transparent-feeling fruit on the middle palate and savory/fine tannins that shape the experience. There are notes of blackberry, black cherry, blood plum and cocoa. 13.9% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. I'm really impressed with the texture and intensity of the 2024 Pinot Noir MacMuir. The nose is distinctive with heady herbs adding intrigue to ripe, sweet black fruit. Oak supports in the background. The intense fruit richness is almost coulis-like, and there's no shortage of ripeness. A soft mid-palate tightens up on the conclusion. Dried fruit, cola and spiced hot chocolate linger on the long, textured finish. This gnarly wine has youth on its side and decent prospects.
