The wine offers aromas of red berries, red apple, lemon zest, and light brioche, with a fresh, intense profile, bold, juicy flavors, and a long finish, making it an excellent choice as an aperitif or paired with fresh cheeses, caviar, and delicate fish dishes such as sushi. The NV Champagne Les Vignes de Montigny Extra Brut, entirely from the 2019 vintage, is a blend of equal parts Meunier and Pinot Noir, with 60% of the wine aged in small barrels for ten months prior to bottling. Displaying a golden straw color, it's expressive and open with notes of redcurrants, orange zest, salty earth, and toasted fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with a hint of warming spice and generous length, accompanied by a fine, rounded mousse. I enjoy the light, bitter citrus that closes on the finish.
