Simplex is the trademark of Neway and Bloomer handcrafted English tea kettles. Available in flat-bottomed or coil, the "Windsor" holds 2 quarts. The flat-bottomed kettle can be used over gas or electric heat sources; the coil-bottom kettle is for use on gas stoves only. The flat bottomed kettle is available in copper or chrome-over-copper (shown on the left in the photo), and the coil-bottomed kettle is available in copper (shown on the right).The Simplex has a decorative wooden handle with brass ribs and lug nuts to insure that the kettle remains rigid. The rattle you hear when the kettle is tipped forward is the unique Simplex whistling device built into the spout. When your water boils, this rattle seals off the spout and directs the steam to the whistle in the lid. The lid is designed to direct the steam down and away from the handle that you are holding.
