Card Weaving, with Candace Crockett.

Card weaving can be done without a loom but you do need simple tools ? weaving cards and yarn. The video covers basic techniques, how to measure the warp, thread the cards, set up & weave patterned bands & how to stitch bands together to form larger fabrics. Once the pattern is determined & the cards are threaded, the weaving goes very quickly. The first project is a cotton band which can be used as a belt, neck piece or strap. The second project, using wool, involves a completely different warping & weaving process and produces numerous patterns which will be woven in 4 bands. Prerequisites: None. Materials needed: Twenty square weaving cards, cotton thread/yarn for warp in three colors, 50 yards of one color, 76 yards for the second color and 55 yards for the third color. For the second project, medium weight plied wool yarn in two colors (135 yards of light and 175 yards of dark) and two sturdy c-clamps. 97 minutes.
