Bialetti Moka Espresso Pot

These moka pots are produced in Italy by Alfonso Bialetti, the world's largest manufacturer of domestic coffeemakers. Made of cast aluminum, the octagonal-shaped pots come in three pieces which screw together.

The bottom holds the water; the middle section holds the finely-ground, dark-roasted espresso [see item 56.ESP]; the top pitcher holds the inky essence, the result of water boiling up from below to drive the steam through the coffee grinds to bubble out of the pitcher's central tube.

The final sounds of fizzling and sputtering mean it's time to remove the pot from the burner. A brass piece on the side acts as a safety valve. Instructions for use are included (in Italian) and English, too (whew!).

The moka pot is available in three sizes: 3 cups, 6 cups, or 9 cups. Please note that cup sizes are NOT your standard mug-sized cups, but espresso-sized cups.
